Who is Team 191?

Team 191, the X-Cats, is a robotics team started in 1992, by drawing upon the brightest minds from Joseph C. Wilson Magnet High School. The X-Cats have produced a steady stream of high quality robots and successful young adults since the beginning. We are one of the few remaining founding teams left.

Congratulations to our graduating seniors!

Halima has been an X-Cat for 3 years, working in the Innovation and Mechanical sub-teams. She plans to attend MCC in the fall, then continue on to Ohio State or Georgia State’s pre-med program.

O’Mari Omari Bryan has been a member of the Mechanical sub-team since he transferred into Wilson his junior year. He has also been on the football team both years at Wilson, and plans to start trade school in the fall.

Jason is a 4-year X-Cat, dedicating his time to Software development. The last two years, Jason has held the position of Scout Master on the team. Jason has his sights on becoming a Psychiatrist, attending the University of Rochester on a full tuition IB scholarship in the fall. Jason is also the Wilson Class of 2020 Salutatorian.

We wish to congratulate all of our 2020 Wilson graduates. Go X-Cats!

Our mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

X-Cats Mission:
The Xerox Wilson FIRST Partnership is in support of the FIRST mission to inspire today's youth without regard to race, sex or national origin; and to create a demand among them to excel in science and technology. We are a "back to basics" team. The inspiration of the student participants on our team is our number one priority. We are building interested, intelligent members of society who get involved and participate. We are building people as much as robots. We will actively recruit students who need and want support in planning for their futures. We will strive to have the team of adults and students reflect the ethnic and gender diversity within Xerox and the Rochester City School District

The Game (Infinite Recharge):

"The Infinite Recharge game involves two alliances of three teams each, with each team controlling a robot and performing specific tasks on a field to score points. The game centers around a futuristic city theme involving two alliances consisting of three teams each competing to perform various tasks, including shooting foam balls known as Power Cells into high and low goals to activate a Shield Generator, manipulating a Control Panel to activate this shield, and returning to the Shield Generator to park or climb at the end of the match. The objective is to energize and activate the shield before the match ends and asteroids strike FIRST City, a futuristic city modeled after Star Wars." From FIRST Robotics
